The “Ideal” Day

Please note:  This is a best case scenario based on a “normal” person’s needs.  If you have medical or dietary issues, you may need to adjust these values.

STEP ONE: eat (or drink a shake) within one hour of waking.

STEP TWO: eat every 3-4 hours while you’re awake.

STEP THREE: drink 1/2 your current weight in ounces of water per day. (ex: you weigh 160 lbs, drink 80 oz of water per day)

STEP FOUR: use the metabolism calculator in your transformation tools in your myvi.net back office. Subtract 500 from the number it gives you and that’s what you should be eating every day. The bare minimum caloric intake (for women) is 1,200 calories per day, so if the MetabCalc-500 calculation gives you 900 calories, you need to eat 1200 calories and BURN and additional 300 through activity.  Depending on your current weight, activity level and other factors, your needs may be higher (it’s not unheard of to need 1,700 – 2,000+ calories per day.

STEP FOUR.TWO: Take the MetabCalc-500 number (for example: 1200). Divide this by 6. (200). Your two shakes and two snacks should be right around 200 calories each, and your meal around 400. Boom.

Sometimes when people are concerned they’re not losing fast enough, it is because they aren’t eating ENOUGH or at regular intervals, not that they’re eating too much. :)   This causes the body to go into Starvation Mode, hoarding everything you eat because you haven’t trained it to trust that you’re going to feed it again within a reasonable time frame.

Also watch your sugar intake. Skim milk has 12g of sugar, unsweetened almond milk: 0. Very ripe bananas have a ton of sugar, use a “still pretty green” one and you cut that down right off the bat. Google high glycemic index fruits. Generally, berries are better than something like pineapple. Don’t go crazy about this, but if your weight isn’t coming off like you’d hoped, it might be a place to pay attention to.

Please note:  You might not lose weight right away.  Your body needs to adjust!  Make sure to take your measurements!  A lot of people lose more inches than lbs the first few weeks. This is a 90 Day Challenge, not a 3, 7, or even 30 day challenge :)

Re: bloating or digestive upset at the beginning – some people will not experience any of these symptoms, but it is COMMON and EXPECTED when changing your diet, getting used to the pre- and pro-biotic fiber and dumping a ton of nutrition into your system that your body will need some time (usually a few days to a week) to adjust. This can range from a “cleansing” effect to constipation, bloating, or anywhere in between. Do not worry! Again, this is NORMAL!
